The hallmark of the Miles Method® is the “meta-balance of the bones”. In order to comprehend this concept one must release the idea of the bones supporting the body and the flesh hanging off it. It is quite the opposite that is true; the connective tissue or myofascia along with muscles, tendons and ligaments actually support and position the bones in their matrix. This concept was coined tensegrity from the late Buckminster Fuller.
By changing the tension in select muscle groups, The Miles Method® achieves optimal balance and positioning of our bones. After mastering the techniques of spinal mechanics and the biomechanics of alignment, Warren had an epiphany when he read this article explaining the neural complexity of inhibition of inhibition. This article explains how the right hemisphere of the brain processes information faster than the left. He combined that information with an article he read earlier about the upright reflex.
This reflex is a subconscious tension pattern from the diaphragm then down the back and from the diaphragm and up the front of the body. Between these two tension patterns we become upright separating ourselves from the rest of the primate family.
Here is where gets interesting, we all know that the right side of the brain controls the left side of the body, therefore the backside of the left side of the body below the diaphragm is tighter.
From all this Warren has found that there is an optimal alignment of the soft tissues, the meta-balance of the bones. Utilizing the acupuncture electronic stimulation motor point technique, Warren has pioneered new minimally invasive techniques to remove common pains in our joints as a result of being misaligned with these complex nervous system reflexes.
